History

In Berlin's lively center, the eventful history of an incomparable metropolis is still present today - in the footsteps of the past and yet contemporary. UNIKAT is at home here. Built in the 19th century as a handsome Wilhelminian style house, "gutted" and neglected after the war and during the GDR era, it was rediscovered after reunification as an authentic location for filming. The atmosphere of the 1920s was captured in the building for the hit series "Babylon Berlin".

The facade

The street façade impresses at first glance: Subtle stucco and structural elements typical of the Wilhelminian style lend the building its historic charm.

The gray-blue color scheme gives the façade a classic, timeless look so that the house blends in perfectly with its surroundings. The façade in the green inner courtyard looks completely different: with its contemporary style and a structure that invites you to look, it looks modern from the ground up. The contrasting program between classic and modern works fantastically at this location - significantly and entirely in keeping with the habits of Berlin's lively Mitte district.

A living art concept

Creativity has always been a top priority in Berlin's Mitte district. And now the UNIKAT residential art concept is continuing this tradition.
The building is once again resplendent with historical splendor and artfully tells its story with works by artist Thorsten Brinkmann. Works of art are part of the UNIKAT living concept and transform apartments into a home gallery - always in tune with the times and in the heart of the capital.

The green heart

An oasis in the middle of the city opens up from the courtyard passageway: the inner courtyard. It is exceptionally green and functional at the same time thanks to the planning. Bicycle parking spaces disappear underground under a planted hill that invites people to play and linger. The apartments on the first floor have their own terraces, perfect for relaxing. All terraces are separated from the communal green areas by clever design. The eye-catcher in the inner courtyard is the façade, stylish and modern. Right! Also a UNIKAT...
